Grace Emma Brown was born September 5, 1881, in Johnsville, Frederick County, Maryland, daughter of Elias and Catherine Phillips Brown. In 1901, she married Grayson Howard Anders, son of John William and Minerva Ann Valentine Anders. They were the parents of 6 children: Beatrice Irene, Wade H., Atlee B., Kermit K., Zelda L. (died young) and Kenneth Payton Anders. Grace passed away December 3, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was buried on the 6th in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery, Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.

"Mrs. Grace Emma Anders, widow of Grayson H. Anders, Rocky Ridge, died Sunday night at the home of her son, Wade H. Anders, 6014 Old Harford Road, Baltimore, after an extended illness. She was born September 5, 1881 near Johnsville, a daughter of the late Elias and Catherine Phillips Brown and was aged 69 years. Her husband predeceased her by six years. Surviving are five children, Wade Anders, at whose home she died; Mrs. Guy Angell, Rocky Ridge; Atlee B. Anders, Indianapolis, Indiana; Kermit K. Anders, Thurmont, and Kenneth P. Anders, Reisterstown. A sister, Mrs. Amanda Halsleigh, of Walkersville, also survives. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran church, Rocky Ridge. The body is at the Woodsboro funeral home of Powell and Hartzler, where friends may call Tuesday evening. It will be removed to the Mt. Tabor Church Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock for services at two. Rev. R. S. Poffenbarger will officiate. Interment in the adjoining cemetery."
