She was born May 2, 1917, in Altona, the daughter of Edward J. and Lillian E. Lundholm Quanstrom.
She married Edward "Bud" Swanson on Oct. 12, 1938, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death Nov. 30, 1976. She later married Erwin W. Burton on Jan. 7, 1983, in Batavia. He preceded her in death July 8, 1994.
Surviving are daughter Judy (Roger) Lake of Rio; son John Swanson of Altona; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several stepchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and brother Ralph Quanstrom of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Herman Quanstrom; and one sister, Frances Schmitt.
She was raised and educated in Altona, graduating from Altona High School in 1935.
She was a homemaker and worked as a clerk at Larson's Dry Good Store in Altona, then worked as a secretary at ROVA High School for 14 years from 1968 until 1982.
She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona. She was a member of Ekstedt-Hurr American Legion Auxiliary in Altona for more than 50 years.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, with Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Oneida. Burial will be in Altona Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona.
