Aunt Jane was the sister of my Grandmother Dote. Jane, Eason, Dote, and Sealey are the children of James "Jim" Holbert and Dorthy Denham. There are a few more children but we are unable to locate them.
The 1880 US Census listed Jane; 7 years old child, a servant in David S. Holmes household. Her surname on the census was Denham but she took the surname Holmes later on in life. David S. Holmes and his family are buried at the front of the cemetery.
The 1910 census for Mississippi listed a household of Jane Holmes, 49 widowed. Included in this household were the following children. Tennie 11, Nellie 12, Dewey 10, Estella 9, J.T. 5 & Beatrice [Beatwood] 1. Jane was a cook at a hotel she had 10 children 9 living.
