JAMES CLIFFORD BENNETT

Mr. James Clifford "Cliff" Bennett, age 82, of 48 Ridgeview Drive, Silver Creek, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at a Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Bennett was born in Sargent, Ga. on December 16,1927, son of the late Bass Bennett and the late Zela Jones Bennett. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during World War II. Prior to retirement, Mr. Bennett was a meat cutter at Colonial and Big Star. He traveled across the Southeast as an instructor for meat cutting. He was an avid golfer. In addistion to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Louise Floyd, on January 6, 2004; by an infant son; by two sisters, Mrs. Jewell Williamson, and Mrs Clesdell Talley and by a brother, Donald Bennett.

Survivors include a son, Marc Bennett, Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Canady, Newnan, and Mrs. Katherine Douglas, Winnsboro, S.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Philip May officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Midway Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Tueaday from noon until the funeral time. At other hours they will be at their respective residences.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and include: Andy Henderson, Rodney Dillard, Anthony Dillard, Dillard Henderson, Gregg Canady, and James Douglas.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
