Asheville - Bruce McNeal, 84, of Asheville, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at his residence.
A native of Micaville, he grew up in Marion.
He was son of the late Frank and Nora Hyder McNeal.
Mr. McNeal was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He graduated from NC State University with a degree in education.
He taught for 32 years at Lee Edwards and Asheville High Schools before retiring in 1989. He was an Elder Emeritus and member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Noleta McNeal; two sons, Jim McNeal and his wife, Robyn of Asheville and John McNeal and his wife, Stevie, of Chapel Hill; one daughter, Jennifer McHarg and her husband, Michael of Wilson; one brother, Robert McNeal and his wife Sue of Fairfax, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Rachel, Daniel, Stephen, Paige, Abby, Maddie, Chloe, Gabby, Duncan and Dawson Claire and one great granddaughter, Lia.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 20, 2010 in the chapel of Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue with the Rev. Drs. Tom Everton and Buddy Corbin officiating. Interment will follow at Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the funeral home.
