Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Simms; a daughter Gayle Lynn Roberson, Bentonville, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Saundra Chadd, Kansas City, Mo.: two sisters, Gladys "Shorty" Godfrey Lamar, and Mary Alice Garrison, Nevada City, Calif; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Simms was born July 3, 1917, in rural Lamar, to Melvin Cecil and Veda Margaret (Smith) Simms. He was a lifelong resident. He was a retired farm machinery mechanic, set up and delivery person for John Deere of Lamar. He attended Central Christian Center in Joplin.
He married Myrtle Virginia Davis at Huntsville, Ark., on Aug. 31 1952.
