Graveside services for Melba Jane Adams, 77, of Longview, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010, in Gum Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Darwood Galaway officiating. Services are under the direction of Welch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Adams was born in Longview, to Jewell and Modine Morton Stracener. She loved her children, grandchildren, cats, gardening, cooking and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Adams was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Chubby"; son, Danny; sister, Paula Nugent; and her parents.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny and Alice Adams of Shreveport, Louisiana, and James "Bubba" and Robin Adams of Detrehan, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Paula "Cissy" and Clifford Abney of Richmond, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Adams, of Kilgore; grandchildren, Jennifer, Ann, Amber, Christy, Ryan, Teresa, Robin Lynn, Christopher, Jason, Tracy, Jennifer, Kyle, Paul and Seth; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks are extended to LifeCare, Kings Highway in Shreveport 2nd floor and Dr. Nichols.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 12, 2010, from 2-4 p.m at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road.
