E. Marie Asbury
E. Marie Asbury, Elizabethton died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Princeton, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Thomas G. and Rosa Lee Underwood Asbury. Ms. Asbury was retired as a dental assistant. She was a member of East River Park Christian Church and a former member of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nannie Lee Asbury and Frances Carriger and a brother, Robert Asbury. Survivors include a niece, Marcheta Laine and her husband Liston, Colonial Heights, VA, a great-niece, Audra Laine and a cousin, Jean Asbury, Florida.
Funeral service for E. Marie Asbury will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2009 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. John Smith, minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Mary Smith, organist and Mr. Kenneth Hartley, soloist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Friday prior to the service or at 301 Holston Avenue, Elizabethton at other times. Interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Broyles, Tim Broyles, Marie Bunton, Eunice Carr and family, Peggy Carriger, Ruby Carver, Ruth Daly, Jean Dykes, Catherine Glover, Phyllis Hale, Kenneth Hartley, Jim and Betty Hughes, Michael Hughes, neighbors and members of East River Park Christian Church.
