DEATH OF A FORMER RESIDENT

The Capac (Mich.) Journal of Jan 4th contained the following obituary notice of a former resident of Perry.

"Died at his home in Capac on Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 1923, Amaziah S. McEntee, one of the old pioneers of Michigan and this locality, aged 86 years, 6 months and 1 day, after a long enfeebled condition because of old age.

"Mr. McEntee was born at Perry Center, N. Y., June 29, 1837. At an early time in his life he came to Almont, later moving to Capac, where he has resided for over 40 years, having been engaged here in the grocery business and in the insurance business.

"A little over 50 years ago he married Miss Julia Carr, of Capac. To this union were born several children, two of whom—Mrs. Margaret Bray of Jackson, and Robert, of this place—with the widow survive.

"For some years, Mr. McEntee was leader of the Baptist Church choir, a position which he held until he was 75 years of age. He will be missed by a large circle of friends."

The deceased is the last of those who, in early days here, were known as "the McEntee boys." Mrs. Kate Olin of Buffalo, formerly of Perry, is the last survivor of the family.
