Mr. W.H. Conover, who lived near the White Oak Church, died last Tuesday night. Had he lived until the 17th of July he would have been 80 years old. He served in Capt. O.B. Patteson's company during the Civil War. He was a good citizen and had the respect of all his neighbors.

William enlisted as a Private in the Union Army on Oct 2, 1861 at Green and Taylor Counties, KY, at age 19. He was mustered into the 13th KY Infantry Co. B on Dec 31, 1861. He served with his brothers Hiram and Dominicus in this company. He was mustered out of service at Louisville, KY on Jan 12, 1865.
