TIPTON - Funeral mass for Miguel A. Balderas, 83, Tipton, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus with Father Joseph Sundar officiating.

A rosary will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, Frederick.

Mr. Balderas passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Altus.

Burial will follow in Tipton Cemetery.

Miguel Balderas was born May 31, 1926, in Crown, Texas, to Jose and Andrea Alcorta Balderas. He was united in marriage to Concepcion Chavez on Sept. 22, 1947, in Jourdanton, Texas. Miguel and his brothers played in the Balderas Brothers orchestra. They played at many events, on live radio and television programs ,and made many recordings for many famous artists including Freddie Fender and Flaco Jimenez. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus.

He is survived by his wife, Concepcion Balderas, of the home; seven sons: Miguel "Mike" Balderas Jr., Richard Balderas, Ray Balderas and Roger Balderas, all of Tipton; Roy Balderas, of San Antonio; Jesse Balderas and his wife, Debra, of Altus; and Joe Balderas and his wife, Melissa, Vernon, Texas; three daughters and their husbands: Mary and Monty Ward, of Duncan; Connie Serra and Frank III, Crowley, Texas; and Janie and Rick Scott, of Ardmore; two brothers: Jesse Balderas and Baltazar Balderas and his wife, Dominga, all of Houston; one sister, Emma Garza, of Texas; 15 grandchildren and their spouses: Michael and Traci Balderas, Christopher Balderas, Michelle and Heath Cryer, Richard Balderas Jr., Adam Balderas, Veronica Balderas, Stacey and Josh Herrington, Stephanie Balderas and her companion, Jimmy Rosenberry; Allison and Tony Lynch, Dustin Balderas, Jessica Balderas, Roger Balderas Jr., Rochelle Balderas, Kaden Joe Balderas and Carson Joe Balderas; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons: Robert and Rudolpho Balderas; two brothers: Jose and Oscar Balderas; and two sisters: Andrea Trevino and Maria Bergara.
