Mr. Donald Lee Batten, 63, died Monday (April 26, 2010) from injuries received in a truck accident.

He was a native of Pierce County and had lived most of his life in Ware County and Pierce County. He was preceded in death by his father, Hartridge Batten and a brother, Jerry Batten.

He was retired 17 years from the City of Waycross. He was a chaplain for Satilla Regional Medical Center, an evangelist and had a prison ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Derea Batten of Waycross; four daughters, Sabrina Pippin (husband Kevin Lee) of Patterson, Tasha Batten (husband Kevin Mikell) of Alma, Julie Ridgdill of Waycross, Joy Ridgdill of Juliette; a son, Johnny Batten (wife Patty) of Waycross; his mother, Alma Chaney of Waycross; and 11 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday (April 29, 2010) at Full Gospel Church of God LTD Apostolic. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Wednesday night from 6 until 8.
