Harvey Atchison, 82, died Monday, August 3, 1998, at the St. Joseph Villa Nursing Home, Salt Lake City.
He was born August 28, 1915, in Kirwin to Harvey and Lena (Palmer) Atchison.
He married Hazel Clanin on June 23, 1940, in Topeka. She died January 24, 1997.
He was a Bureau of Reclamation engineering aide and lifelong Kirwin resident. He was a member of the Kirwin United Methodist Church and Kirwin American Legion.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. in Olliff-Boeve Chapel with Rev. Ron Lowry officiating. Burial will be in Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin, with Military Honors by Harry E. Clarke American Legion of Kirwin. A memorial has been established to the Harry E. Clarke Legion in Kirwin.

Duane Harvey Atchison passed away August 3, 1998, at the age of 82. He was born August 28, 1915, at Kirwin where he grew to adulthood. On June 23, 1940, he married Hazel Irene Clanin, also of Kirwin. During his U.S. Army service they lived in Fort Lewis, Washington, and Fort Ord, California, with their two children. Since 1952 they made their home in Kirwin working for the Bureau of Reclamation until retirement.
Survivors include one son, Carson Atchison, Kirwin; one daughter, Marilyn Williams, Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren, Trevor Williams, Kristin Ayers, Travis, Jimmy and Tracy Atchison, Jodi Bowman and Jana Lutgen; and eight great-grandchildren: Matthew and James Atchison, Brett, Nichole and Danielle Bowman, Kelsey and Alex Atchison and Brandon Lutgen.
Harvey was active in the American Legion and the Odd Fellows Lodge. With his wife, he participated in the staging and performances of numerous plays and the making of Hazel's fine candies. He also helped to develop youth baseball in the area, and he loved supporting his grandchildren in sporting events.
Harvey will long be remembered for his kindness and service to the community and his love of family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ron Lowry officiating. Lovell Elliott read a poem.
Jodi Bowman, soloist, sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Helen Witmer. "Danny Boy" was played on tape.
Casket bearers were: Jim, Travis, Tracy and James Atchison, Todd Bowman, and Randy Lutgen.
Interment was in the Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin, with military honors by Harry E. Clarke American Legion Post # 277.
Arrangements were handled by Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
