Hazel Irene Atchison

Kirwin-Hazel Irene Atchison, 82, died Friday, January 24, 1997, at her home in Kirwin.

She was born May 16, 1914, in Kirwin to Ora and May (Nichols) Clanin.

She married Harvey Atchison June 6, 1940, in Topeka. She was retired as a secretary for the Bureau of Reclamation. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and Rebekah Lodge, all of Kirwin.

Kirwin—Hazel Irene Atchison, 82, Kirwin, died Friday, January 24, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. Atchison was born Hazel Irene Clanin on May 16, 1914, at Kirwin and was an area resident most of her life. She was a secretary for the Bureau of Reclamation. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge and United Methodist Church, all of Kirwin.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey, of Kirwin; a son, Carson, of Kirwin; a daughter, Marilyn Williams of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Olliff-Boeve Chapel, Phillipsburg, the Rev. Dennis Hanna officiating. Burial will be in Kirwin Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to ARC of Utah Mini Grant Fund in care of the chapel.


Hazel Atchison

Hazel Irene Atchison passed away January 24, 1997, at the age of 82. She was born Hazel I. Clanin May 16, 1914, at Kirwin where she grew to adulthood. Following her marriage to Duane Harvey Atchison June 23, 1940, she lived during the years of her husband's military service in Fort Lewis, Washington, and Fort Ord, California, caring for their two children. Since 1952 they have made their home in Kirwin.

Survivors include her husband, Duane of the home; her son, Carson Atchison of Kirwin; her daughter, Marilyn Williams of Salt Lake city, Utah; seven grandchildren: Trevor Williams, Kristen Ayers, Travis, Jimmy and Tracy Atchison, Jodi Bowman, Jana Lutgen; and eight great-grandchildren: Matthew and James Atchison, Brett, Nichole and Danielle Bowman, Kelsey and Alex Atchison and Brandon Lutgen.

Hazel was a member of the Kirwin Methodist Church. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge as well as participating in numerous plays and making candy for the area. She will long be remembered for kindnesses and service to the community and for her abiding love and support for her family.

Memorial contributions can be sent to the ARC of Utah-Mini Grant Fund, 455 East 400 South No. 300, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. The ARC is an organization which provides services to people with mental retardation and their families.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 27 at 11 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Hanna officiating, and Lovell Elliott gave the eulogy.

Trevor Williams, soloist, sang "Abide With Me" and "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied by Diane Stockman.

Casket bearers were: Tracy Atchison, Todd Bowman, James Atchison, Trevor Williams, Randy Lutgen and Adam Ayers.

Interment was in the Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin.
