Adam was born to George & Isabella (Kastner) Boehm who came from Russia with their oldest child to America. Adam had four brothers and two sisters by the 1930 census; Eva, (1912-), Joseph,(1913-1962), Anna Mary, (1914-), George, (1917-1984), Florian, (1920-1993) and Thomas, (1924-1978).
Adam went to school in Mandan. He did carpentry with his dad and later learned meat cutting which became his profession. He became a manager at National Tea Grocery store in Langdon. He met then married Louisa Metcalf on Nov. 7th 1951 at St. Joseph's Parish. With this marriage came two step-daughters and one stepson.
On encouragement from his sister, they moved the family to California to find work. There was no work so they moved on the encouragement of friends to Washington state. For a brief time Adam worked for the Railroad at the Blacksmith Yard in So. Tacoma. He also worked Friday and Saturday at Safeways's meat department. Every time they opened a new store, he was sent to work there to get it started right.
He and Lousia bought lake property at Summitt Lake across from Candy Rock Mtn. They themselves built a cabin then a boat house, an addition to the house and deck, a garage and shed. They bought more property across the street for their garden. Both were industrious workers and kept everything orderly and "shipshape."
Eventually, Adam retired due to health problems. He was not able to get on a disability retirement through Social Security right away, so Louisa went to work at Southgate Drug store. After he received his disability, Louisa quit and they went traveling the country in a travel trailer. They immensely enjoyed meeting new acquaintences around the country, Other entertainments through their marriage had been dancing and playing cards.
Adam finally sucumbed to a heart attack after many years with poor health.
