De Mean - Minnie DeMean, wife of John DeMean, was born in Germany, May 3, 1842. She came to West Liberty in 1883 and has made her home in that vicinity until about a year ago, when she went to make her home with her son Peter, where she passed away May 23, 1925, aged 83 years and 20 days.
Her husband preceded her in death about eighteen years ago, at the age of 72 years.
They were blessed with ten children, three preceding her in death; two in Germany and one in America. She leaves to mourn her death two daughters, Mrs. Fred Jensen and Mrs. John Kurz, both of West Liberty; five sons, George of White Lake, S.D., John of Davenport, Iowa, Pete of Tipton, Ia., Claus and Will, of West Liberty. She leaves also twenty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral services at the house and at Bethel cemetery Rev. M. Grether officiating.
