Theola Natalie (Hardee) Norris was the youngest child born December 16, 1922, in Nodaway, Iowa to Walter Hardee and Amy Gertrude (Hays) Hardee. She grew up attending grade school in Nodaway, graduating from the Villisca High School with the Class of 1942. On December 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gerald C. Norris. This loving union was blessed with the birth of two children, Connie Roberta and Ronnie Lee.
Theola was a loving mother who nurtured everyone, including several neighborhood children for whom she babysat. She worked as a waitress in various restaurants for over thirty years, making many lifelong friendships with fellow employees and customers along the way. Theola was an active member of the Bedford American Legion Auxiliary for over fifty-four years, holding several offices within the organization, including being Chairman of the Poppy Sales. She was also active in the membership drives and the collection of hospital equipment. Theola was a H-U-G-E Elvis Presley fan. She loved country music and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was an avid reader of Danielle Steele novels, and enjoyed watching professional wrestling, Wheel of Fortune and the Nebraska Cornhuskers on television. Above all, Theola was dearly loved and lived for her family. She worked hard and made many sacrifices over the years for her children and extended family and friends.
Left to cherish Theola's memory are her loving and devoted children Connie Gilreath and husband Bart; and Ronnie Norris all of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Lena Rinehart of Mission, Texas; and a very special ‘Grand-dog Gusto' along with several nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Preceding Theola in death are her parents Walter and Amy Hardee; her husband Gerald in 1991; two sisters, Thelma Sparks in 2000; and Trevia Young in 2001; a brother Truman Hardee in 2002; and a special nephew, Carroll Young in 2005.
