The 73 year old Martin was committed to Eastern State Hospital on October 18, 1918. He was living with his step sister, Kate Bowman Cosselman who was married to husband number three. His stepfather James Bowman and mother Mary were both dead by 1909 so he probably couldn't be left on his own.
He lived approximately 14 years after commital. He died from exhaustion from senile dementia. He is buried in a numbered grave at the facilities. No name is on the headstone.
