Sherley Jane Chamberlain, daughter of the late Harley T. & Minnie Davis Spitler, was born in Lamar, Ark. on Jan. 22, 1939, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on March 9, 2010, at the age of 71.

Mrs. Chamberlain had lived in Dexter most of her life. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter.

On Sept. 27, 1963, she was married to Rolland L. "Rod" Chamberlain in Sikeston. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2008.

Surviving are one son, John Daniel Chamberlain of Herculaneum; one daughter, Sharon Hansen of Costa Mesa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Spitler of Mayfield, Ky., Tommy Spitler of Lamar, Ark.; three sisters, Rita Evans of Clarksville, Ark.; Rosetta Jones of Oklahoma and Yvonne Bohannon of Lamar, Ark. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Burleigh "Bud" & Kenneth Spitler.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 12, 2010, after 11 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, with the Rev. Lonnie Mittag of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie.
