Ralph, 78, Eastview Drive, Fort Loramie, died at 3:43 a.m., in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital after a courageous fight against cancer.

He was a son of Raymond and Josephine (Evers) Holdheide. On Oct 9, 1954, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, he married Joan R. Winner, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James and Dave (Sharon), all Ft. Loramie; two daughters, Diane (Nick) Bensman and Carol Holdheide, all New Bremen; five brothers, Alvin and Leonard (Marilyn), all St. Rose, Jerry (Velma), Newport, Werner (JoAnn), St. Henry, Paul (Rosalie), Maria Stein; a sister, Wilma (Wilfred) Albers, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Rita Winner, Celina, and Mildred Prenger, Coldwater; and five grandchildren, Kevin, Kelli and Kyle Bensman, Emily and Alan Holdheide.

Deceased are two brothers-in-law, Urban Winner and Leonard Prenger; and a sister-in-law, Rita (Gregor) Holthaus.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was a eucharistic distributor since 1988 and helped install the steeple Christmas rosary each year since 1968. He was a member of the men's conference prayer group and was a men's funeral rosary leader. He was a Noble Degree member of the Maria Stein Knights of St. John Commandary 313 and a member of Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1391. He founded Holdheide Electric and Dairy in 1970. He had still been active there since he retired in 1996. Previously, he had been a milk truck driver for Larger Brothers for 18 years. He enjoyed fishing, bicycling, camping, card playing, boating, mission work in Jamaica and his dear grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie, with the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating.
