EMPORIA --- Dorothy Mae Rowlands-Bradford, 82, Emporia, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at a Suffolk, Va., hospital.

Mrs. Rowlands-Bradford worked for many years in Emporia banks and in 1961 began a 13-year career with Avon Products Inc., six years of which she was district manager. She achieved the highest honor an Avon district manager could receive, the "Circle of Excellence" award that was presented to the top 10 percent of the managers in the United States and Canada.

She was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Emporia, the daughter of Berlin Ellsworth and Lola Mae Swangin Hammer.

Mrs. Rowlands-Bradford was a member of First United Methodist Church, Newman Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Emporia.

She married Thomas Wayne Rowlands on Sept. 6, 1941, in Emporia. They were divorced. She married Robert Bradford on Oct. 13, 1973, in Wichita. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Brent Rollands, Suffolk, Va.; a daughter, Nancy Carol Schoeck, Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Albert E. Hammer, Emporia; a sister, Imegene Marsh, Emporia; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Emporia and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
