Thomas W. Rowlands
Emporia-Thomas W. Rowlands, 67, Emporia, died Thursday, Nov. 29, at an Emporia hospital.
Mr. Rowlands was a conductor or Santa Fe Railway for many years before he retired in 1977. He was a Army veteran o World War II.
He was born Jan. 3, 1917, at Hartford, the son of Daniel T. and Mary Elizabeth Hamman Rowlands, and spent all his life in Lyon County.
Mr. Rowlands was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Transportation Union, Emporia Lodge No. 12, AF&AM, and Lowery-Funston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1980, all at Emporia
He was married to Alma Ruth Crippen on May 11, 1971, at Emporia. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Carol Schoeck, Emporia; a son, Brent L. Rowlands, Raleigh, N.C.' a step-daughter, Mrs. Laura Henning, Harrington; his mother, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rowlands, Emporia; a sister, Mrs. Marilyn Ahistrom, Amarilo, Texas; a brother, Homer Rowlands, Emporia, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home at Emporia. Military graveside services will be conducted by Lowery-Funston VFW Post No. 1980 in Hartford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
