In 1884, Alice married John Cameron, who was a well known preacher in the area. They never had any children.
"Among the Old-timers left are the Rev. John C. Cameron, soon 80, only living charter member, and still an active leader in the church. His wife, Alice, is the daughter of the late Col. (Edwin Volney) Ruthven, a deceased pioneer. They have no children. Their home is the mecca of relatives and friends and most of the young people think they haven't been properly married unless Uncle John has "tied the knot". They are highly esteemed and the community expresses love and appreciation of them every so often in a material way thorugh old fashioned poundings or pantry showers. They recall when wild cattle and horses roamed the Yeguas, and wild deer and turkey abounded with no game laws or wardens to mar the pleasure of hunting. A man those days saw a bunch of wild horses, selected a certain one, roped it if he could and blindfolded it to saddle and it was his for keeps. Many were caught in this manner and then sold, when broke to the bit."
