According to DNA evidence, Elizabeth was descended from Ambrose Cobbs (1603-1655)(#41180724), who emigrated from Kent, England to the vicinity of Jamestown, VA about 1635, less than 30 years after the first English colony in America was founded. Direct parentage is less clear. Family records indicated Elizabeth's father was Howell Cobb (a cousin of the Georgia statesman of the same name). Her mother was Leah Williams. Elizabeth married John Franklin Coffman on 22 Aug 1830 in Hopkins Co., KY.
