Andrew Joe Baker, age 78, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
He was born February 14, 1931, in Exeter, California, the son of A.F. and Jewell (Patton) Baker.
On November 18, 1977, in Washburn, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Velma (Nodine) Snook, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Donna Clark and her husband, Randy of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; two step daughters, Georgia Dalton of Washburn and Karen Howard of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two step sons, Bobby Snook of Kansas City, Missouri and Norman Snook of Osborne, Kansas; one brother, Edwin Baker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Andrea Murry of Neosho.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Joe, as most people knew him, received his education in Stockton, California.
In November 1947, he moved with his family from California to Rocky Comfort, Missouri.
He began working with his dad and Bill Bower, Perry Utter and Stanley Ford, catching chickens.
In 1952 he moved back to California, working one year in a steel mill in Pittsburg, California.
He then returned to Missouri and worked for a marble plant in Carthage and later was employed at Northwestern Poultry in the maintenance department.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 11, 2010, in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
Tony Intessimone will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 until service time Monday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
