Obituary:
Gladys A. Allen, 94, of Lookout Point Road, died Friday, November 24, 2006 at Amenity Manor, Topsham. She was born in Harpswell, November 11, 1912, daughter of William and Flora Johnson Corbett. She graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1931. She married Spencer Albert Allen in Harpswell, June 26, 1931. He died June 15, 1979. As a young woman she was employed summers at the Lookout Point House and the Auburn Colony. She was employed at Brunswick Hospital on Cumberland Street and later worked at Senter's Department Store for 16 years. She was the oldest member of the Elijah Kellogg Church, a Golden Sheaf member of the Merriconeag Grange and a member of D.A.R.. She was a former member of the Women Auxiliary of Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue and the King's Daughters. Mrs. Allen enjoyed crafts, knitting and researching family genealogy and hosting and cooking for family and friends. She is survived by a son, Albert E. Allen of North Yarmouth; a daughter, Ruth Allen of Harpswell and her husband, William; three grandchildren, Debora Lowe and her husband, Stephen, Sandra Burnell and her husband, Kerry and Cynthia Young and her husband, Rick; two step grandchildren, Scott and Glenn Allen and 12 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday at the Elijah Kellogg Church, Harpswell Center with the Rev. James Henry officiating. Interment will in Hillcrest Cemetery.
