September 28, 1928 - November 12, 2009

Funeral services for Wyley Peebles, 81 of Lexington, Texas and formerly of Cisco, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Lexington with Dr. Forrest Lowery & Rev. Reuel Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington.

Mr. Peebles passed away Thursday afternoon in Giddings.

Wyley Marshall Peebles was born on September 28, 1928 in Lexington, Texas to Sam P. & Mary Ann (Johnston) Peebles. He received his Bachelor of Sciences Degree from Baylor University and his Master of Divinity Degree from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as the Pastor and Minister of Music for several churches in Texas, Alabama and Mississippi and was a College Music Professor at Cisco Junior College from 1969-2004. Mr. Peebles enjoyed traveling and was a gourmet cook. His great love of music was evident throughout his entire life and he took great pride in the Harpsichord he built himself.

Mr. Peebles was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sam Peebles Jr. & E.M. Peebles and two nephews, Fred Woodward and Parker Peebles.

He is survived by his two sisters, Rosa Gene Lewis of La Grange and Ascenia Underwood of Lexington; three nieces, Jimanne Kubiak of Lexington, Kay Van Dorn of Lexington and Pattie Ivey of Austin; two nephews, Ray Lewis of Austin and Tom Underwood of Athens; a special caregiver, Denise Babbitt of Paige as well as numerous other family members, friends and former students.
