Alexander lafayettee "Fate" Downing was married several times. One of his wives was Joannah G Dixon, a sister to Joseph Gallaher Dixon. After Joannah drowned in a buggy accident, he left Wayne County, TN and went to Washington state where many of the Dixons had removed to. The 1910 census lists him as father-in-law and he has been noted here as father of katerine Cole Downing Dixon. Not sure why he was listed as father-in-law when in fact it should be brother-in-law of Joseph.
