Funeral services were held at the Era Church of Christ Tuesday for Mrs. Laura Jane Sherrill, 85. Interment was in Era Cemetery (Cooke County, TX).
She died Monday in Waco at the home of a daughter. She was born in Tennessee Aug. 11, 1872, and was married to W. D. Sherrill in Tennessee. They moved to Cooke County TX in 1923.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. V. H. Beckham of Kennefick, Okla., Mrs. Arthur Sricklin of Savannah, Tenn., Mrs. Charlie Hale of Marietta, Okla., Mrs. Jack Beard of Waco and Mrs. J. B. Cowling of Weatherford; six sons, C. C. Sherrill of Collinwood, Tenn., L. D. Sherrill and E. E. Sherrill of Gainesville, R. S. Sherrill of Valley View, J. R. Sherrill of Arvin, Calif., and W. M. Sherrill of Waco.
Also surviving are two brothers, John Downing of Collinwood, Tenn., and Charlie Downing of Washington state, 36 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
