Joyce Ann (Jensen) Bergman, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Joyce was born on August 12, 1931 in Holdrege, the only child of Andrew and Edna (Frisell) Jensen.

Joyce lived on a farm near Ragan until her father died in 1935. Joyce and her mother then moved to Holdrege and lived with her maternal grandparents.

Joyce attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1949. She worked at the Hotel Dale and First National Bank of Holdrege. Joyce was united in marriage to Lemoyne "Speedy" Bergman on June 10, 1952. They made their home on a farm north of Holdrege. They were blessed with three children: Cheryl, Richard, and Charles.

Throughout her adult life, Joyce was an active member of the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church and she served there in many capacities. She was also a member of several neighborhood clubs. In 1978, she became the cook at R-4 School, and for 23 years she lovingly prepared tasty meals for the students. Her school kids held a special place in her heart throughout her life.

After Speedy's retirement in 1989, he and Joyce began spending their summers at their cabin on Johnson Lake. They enjoyed many family weekends at the lake and entertained family and friends often. Joyce and Speedy moved to Holdrege in 1993. Joyce adored her four grandchildren and followed all of their activities. She loved staying busy and being on the go.

Joyce was preceded in death by: parents; step-father, Hardy Johnson; and sister-in-law, Betty Isaacson and her husband, Delford.

Joyce is survived by her husband of sixty years, Lemoyne Bergmanof Holdrege; children: Cheri Bergman, Rick Bergman and his wife, Julie, and Chuck Bergman all of Holdrege; grandchildren: Kara Rupnow and her husband, Ted of Niamey, Niger, West Africa, Krista Banks and her husband, Jason of Littleton, Colorado, Ericka Bergman of Grand Island, Nebraska and her fiancé, Kyle Shaffer of Omaha, Nebraska and Andrew Bergman of Holdrege; double cousin, Marjorie Rohlfs and her husband, Herman of Lincoln, Nebraska and their family: Anita Rohlfs of Lincoln and David and Cherry Rohlfs, Katie, Julie, David, and Kirsten Joyce all of Rockwall, Texas; cousins: Vergale and Marguerite Jensen of Hastings, Nebraska, Marilyn Ostergaard of Kennewick, WA, Shirley Holsten of Kearney, Nebraska, Melvin Holsten of McCook, Nebraska, Ann McLoughlin of Lincoln, Don Frisell and Mary and Marvin Arehart all of Holdrege; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Grant and Donna Bergman of Holdrege and Ken and Marilyn Olenik of Rockford, Illinois and a host of relatives and friends.

Interment was in the Moses Hill Cemetery, Phelsp County, NE.
