My beloved Granddad.

"Spent several years around Norwood, Nucla area. He had many jobs over the years, but one that I remember him talking about a lot was when he was hauling freight. He hauled to Parodox, Gatway, Norwood, and Teleuride. He was one of the first to drive a team and wagon on the old hanging road down the canyon below Uravan, Colorado. He said he would get out and lead the team across it. He was afraid to drive across sitting on the wagon. Later in years he and Frances moved to Grand Junction area. They bought a home on D1/2 Road near Clifton, Colorado. There he worked in the fruit industry for a few years. Then he retired and moved to 220 White Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado where he and Frances lived a few years then moved back to Nucla, Colorado where they lived in a trailer house by Nina & Don Woodruff until his death. -- Richard Sage, Grandson

It was always a joy to visit Granddad and Grandma in Colorado (which we did every summer). Their home was filled with love and fun and lots of good eating. Grandma said Granddad was too hard on the children, but we grandchildren never saw that side of him -- he was always ready to throw a ball, play a board game, sing & dance, or play "tickle me". He loved cribbage and taught us all to play -- to this day every time I play it, it's always with a smile thinking of him.

Granddad lived 85 years, 9 months, 23 days, before he died of Calciferous Aortic stenosis.

We were planning a 65th wedding anniversary party for the following month.

Granddad's beautiful smile will be remembered forever!
