Roy E. Baggett, 86, a longtime Cooperton, Oklahoma, resident, died Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.

He was born January 31, 1923 ato M. C. and Stella (Larkey) Baggett in Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1943 and attended Oklahoma University before serving with the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Japan and was in Army Intelligence.

He married Edna Sears February 7, 1943 in Norman, Oklahoma.

He worked for the State School Land Commission as Loan Director for 30 years and also farmed.

Survivors include his wife Edna of the home in Cooperton, Oklahoma; one nephew John Ray Sears and wife Jan, Cordell, Oklahoma; and one niece Mollie Jane Rogers, Monroe, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services were Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Hobart, Oklahoma with Rev. Tim Tutten officiating. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cooperton, Kiowa County, Oklahoma under direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
