Master Sgt. Rodney Lewis Hobbs formerly of Horton, died Wednesday of injuries suffered in an accident at Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Burial was held with full military services. Rodney attended Horton Public schools and was a 1968 graduate of Horton High School. He attended Highland Junior College. He enlisted in the Air Force in December 1970 and was serving as an instrument panel specialist on pilot trainer planes at Eglin AFB, Fla., at the time of his death. SGT. Hobbs married Bonnie L. Meyer on Aug. 28, 1971 at Olathe. They were later divorced. She survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Michael Bryan Hobbs and Brian Lee Hobbs; one daughter, Melissa Ann Hobbs of the home in Fort Walton Beach; his mother Elma Hobbs, Horton; two sisters, Joyce Shirley, Powhattan and Marian Yaussi, Hiawatha; a brother, Robert Hobbs Jr., Hiawatha; two nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Hobbs.
