Husband of Rebecca Clark is named Edwin. His Union Civil War headstone shows "Edw'd", as in "Edward". (Thanks to Nelvin Sloman for the following information). Jan 7, 1843, marriage license issued to Edwin Clark and Rebecca Hatcher which was returned on the 5th day of Feb, 1843. . . . St of Ill, Perry County, Justice of the Peace, Allen Parlier, joined together Edwin Clark and Rebecca Hatcher as husband and wife, 12th day of Jan, 1843. Edwin Clark was then 22 yrs later, called to service in the Civil War. He was killed in a train accident March 24, 1865, in or about Philadelphia, TN, transporting wounded and sick patients. At that time, Rebecca had children at home under the age of 16 yrs. She applied for Widow's pension commencing on his date of death in the amount of $8.00/mo, plus $2.00/mo for each child under the age of 16 yrs. Henry DOB July 15, 1851; Sarah, DOB Feb 4, 1854; Sylvanus DOB, Marc 18, 1856 and Louisa DOB, Aug 17, 1858. Her residence at that time was Taylorville, Christian County, Ill.
