Marie Isabel was the daughter of Adalbert Wilhelm George, Prince of Bavaria and his wife Infanta Maria-Amalia Felipa of Spain.
In 1883, she married Tomasso Alberto, 2nd Duke of Genoa. They were the parnets of 6 children-Ferdinand Umberto, 3rd Duke of Genoa and Prince of Udine, Filiberto Lodovico, 4th Duke of Genoa and Duke of Pistoia, Maria-Bona Margarita, Maria-Adelina, Adalberto, Duke of Bergamo, and Eugene Alfonso, 5th Duke of Genoa and Duke of Ancona
