Mrs. Mary Holton Bowen, 69, died (December 24, 2002) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native of Bacon County but had resided in Ware County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late W.W. Ellis and Ada Mixon Ellis.
She was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband John Q. Bowen of Waycross, two daughters Connie Pruitt (husband Melvin) of Lakeland, Robin Hurst (fiancee Richard Hambrick) of Waycross, two sons; Daniel Bowen (wife Debra) of Waycross, Rodger Kott (wife Pat) of Eufaula, AL., other children Janet Taylor (husband George) of Dixie Union, Penny Bower (husband Roy) of Blackshear, Susan Bowen of Cairo, three brothers; John Ellis (wife Wilma ) of Goodlettsville, TN., David Ellis, Robert Ellis both of Blackshear, 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
A service is planned for 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will be in the Greenlawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at the funeral home.
