John Thomas "Johnny" BAKER is believed to be the son of George W. BAKER and Mattie POTTS (though this has never been positively proven).

He married(1) Ella J. LANEY on Sep. 3, 1893 in Madison Co., TN. They had 6 children. In 1905 Ella died, it is believed, from an accidental overdose of laudinum taken due to complications of childbirth after the birth of their youngest child. This left Johnny with 5 small children at home. He married(2) Fannie STARKEY on Oct. 31, 1906 in Denmark, Madison Co., TN.

On Jun 15, 1909 he died of typhoid fever in Uptonville, TN, only 4 years after the death of his wife. His 5 children were left as orphans, ranging in age from 4 to 13. They wound up scattered, taken in by other relatives.
