From the Talbotton New Era, Thursday, July 7, 1904: "Hon. A. P. Persons Heads Lawyers July 7, 1904/ The Georgia state bar association was in session at warm Springs the past week. The association is composed of the leading members of the legal fraternity of the state. At the recent meeting, Hon A. P. Persons of Talbotton was elected president for the ensuing year./ The following sketch of Mr. Persons appeared in the constitution Saturday morning: A. P. Persons was born in Talbotton, Ga., on the 29th day of October, 1858, there he lived all his life and there he now resides. He is a son of Hon. Henry Persons, who served years since, represented the [illegible]. In early life Mr. Persons attended home schools, but completed his education at the State University of Georgia. Since 1887, the date of his admission to the bar, he has practice law in his home county and he is at present a member of the well-known firm of Persons & McGehee. At home and throughout the state he is recognized as an able lawyer. He has represented his district in the state Senate and during his term of service was recognized as one of the strongest man in the general assembly. His social qualities and general disposition combined with culture and common sense, drawn men to him and make him universally popular."
