Charles Augustine Morman (Gentry) was born on March 10, 1910, in Amherst, Virginia. His father is unknown, but may have been Aaron Gentry. His mother, Clark Moorman, was about age 16 when Charles was born. The 1920 Census has him living with his grandparents, George Moorman and Ida Hawkins in Amherst. The 1930 Census shows him at age 20 to be living in Greenwich, Connecticut with his aunt and uncle, Annie P and Chester A Smith, working in the trucking business. He married Ella Lucy Elizabeth Branch (Ward) on March 2, 1931, in Manhattan, New York. They had one child, Pearl, in Greenwich before settling in Amelia County, Virginia. They had eight children in 15 years. He died on August 7, 1980, in Richmond City, Virginia, at the age of 70, and was buried in Jetersville, Virginia.
