She was born December 3, 1914 in Latty, Ohio, a daughter of Clyde and Rosa (Rhoad) Ropp. Her formative years were spent in Latty. Following her graduation from Latty High School in 1932, she moved to Fort Wayne.
On February 15, 1935 she was united in marriage to Eugene "Bud" Crawford. They made their home in Fort Wayne, later purchasing a farm in Wells County. They later moved to a farm in Jefferson Township. Following their retirement from farming, they moved to Columbia City. Mr. Crawford died June 15, 2007.
In addition to assisting with the farms, she worked in the drapery department at Sears for many years and co-owned & operated the Lake Trails Miniature Golf Course in North Webster.
Her memberships included Latty Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include two sisters, Melvene Ahlersmeyer of Lafayette and Arlene Simpson of Nappanee.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Cleo A. Ropp, Glen E. Ropp, Jerry Ropp, Earl Ropp and Vern Ropp; and a sister, Irene Mees.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
