The matriarch of a well known Breathitt County family, Sarah Graham Brewer, age 101, died Tuesday January 14 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington after an illness of two months. Mrs. Brewer was a marvel to her family and friends as she maintained a sound mind and able body through her first 100 years.

Born September 2, 1884 the Wolfe Co. native was the daughter of the late Timothy Graham and Ellen McPherson Graham.

A retired county merchant, Mrs. Brewer is survived by two daughters Mary Edith Brewer and Bonnie South, both of Jackson: five sons, Forest Brewer and Seldon Brewer both of Jackson; Estil Brewer of Yale, Michigan; Ottis Brewer of Livonia, Michigan, and Anderson Brewer of South Lyons, Michigan.

Also surviving are three brothers: the Honorable Judge J. Douglas Graham and Taylor Graham, both of Campton and Amos Graham, Frozen Creek; one sister, Bertha Lockhard of Kendilville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 1986 at 1 p.m. at the Breathitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louise Heidorn officiating. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Brewer's grandsons with Breathitt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
