Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, April 2, 1998

Lora C. Abbett, 94, of Chesterfield, formerly of Eldon, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Delmar Gardens Care Center in Chesterfield. She was born Sept. 14, 1903, in Ulman to Frank and Dosha Groves Bass. On Oct. 1, 1921, she was married in Tuscumbia to Ernest Abbett, who died Sept. 25, 1985.

Mrs. Abbett and her husband formerly operated the Hill Top Grocery and Café in Tuscumbia and Bob's Chicken Kitchen at Lake Ozark. She moved to Eldon in 1965 where they operated Abbett's Trailer Court until retirement. She was a member of the Eldon First Assembly of God Church.

Surviving her are a son, Edwin Abbett of St. Louis, and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Phllips Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. Jay Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in the Tuscumbia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
