Obituary.

Miss Derinda Catharine Harris was born near La Harpe, Ill., Jan. 7, 1846, and went to sleep In Christ at the house of her daughter, Mrs. C. H. Holtsclaw, at Fortescue, Mo., April 22, 1911. She was 65 years, 3 months and 15 days old.

She was the daughter of Isaac and Marthena Harris. She was married to James C. Brown, Jan. 10, 1867. She united with the Christian church in her 15th year and has adorned the doctrine of her profession by a well ordered walk and a chaste conversation in Christ Jesus. It was always her desire to make friends by doing good to others. To this union 9 children were given, 5 girls and 4 boys. Thomas died in infancy. The rest were present at the bedside of their departing mother but Mrs. James L. Belville, of Seneca, Kan., who was sick at home. The rest of the children are Mrs. C. H. Holtsclaw, of Fortescue; Marthenia Catron, Ida Howard, of Fortescue: Mary Ramsay and Harlan, Jessie and Willie Brown. Mrs. Brown leaves a husband, 8 children and 16 grandchildren and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss.

The remains were laid to rest in the Forest City cemetery on April 23 attended by a large concourse of sympathizing neighbors, that speak well of the standing and influence, of the departed. Elder W. H. Hardman preached the funeral and an escort of I. O. O. F. laid the remains in its quiet home to await the final summons of the trump of God to awake in the robes of immortality and eternal life.
