THEODORE BRIGGS
Theodore Briggs, son of John and Elizabeth Briggs, was born in a log cabin near Newbern, April 19, 1861. Death came following a brief illness of but an hour at the home of his son, Walter Briggs, near Williamson, January 23, 1950. He had attained the age of 88 years, nine months and four days.
He was married to Rozalia Maner, of Gosport, Iowa, on March 25, 1881. To this union were born three sons and three daughters.
Preceding him in death were his wife on October 6, 1917; a daughter, Julia Hannon and a son, George; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are the two sons, William, of Purdy; Walter, of Williamson; two daughters, Anna, of Knoxville, and Martha of Atlantic. Also two brothers, John of Russell; Charles Edward of Williamson; 19 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at the Coal Glen church Wednesday, Jan. 25, with the Rev. Archie Beals officiating. Burial was made in the Coal Glen cemetery beside his beloved wife. Pall bearers were his grandsons, Pearl Briggs, Loran Briggs, Marion Briggs, Willis Briggs, Loyde and William Hunt.
