Robert Jefferson Anderson, 97, of Corsicana was taken gently in his sleep to heaven June 22, 1999.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow at Birdston Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Anderson, Nick Anderson, Allan Cason, James Jackson, Walter L. Jackson Jr. and Walter L. Jackson Sr.Mr. Anderson was born June 22, 1902, in Muskogee, Oklahoma Twin Territories prior to its statehood.
He was the fifth child of six born to James Henry and Martha Austin Anderson. He moved to Texas in 1916.
In 1932 he moved to Streetman where he met and fell in love with Minnie Milner Curry. They were married Dec. 23, 1932 in the parsonage of First Baptist Church of Corsicana.
Mr. Anderson and his family lived in many towns in Texas before settling in Conroe in 1957. Following his retirement in 1967 from Conroe Telephone Company, he and his wife moved to Athens.They lived in Navasota and Houston from 1986-1995, at which time they moved to Corsicana.
Mr.Anderson participated in politics and was a member of the school board in Montgomery, a devoted father who was his son's boy scout leader in Navasota, a deacon in the Baptist church and acted as a lay minister in jails and nursing homes across Central Texas.He lived a full and rich life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Franklin, William and Thomas Anderson; and sisters, Minnie Anderson Reed and Louise Anderson Smith. Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 67 years, Minnie Curry Anderson of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. "Gene' and Elizabeth "Betty" Ozan Anderson of Edmond, Okla.; grandson and wife, Robert N.
"Nick" and Lisa Hensarling Anderson and their daughters, Ashley G. and Taylor N. Anderson of Houston; grandson and wife, David N. and Erika Juarez Anderson and their sons, Alexander A.A. and R.D. Ian Anderson of Houston; granddaughter, Susan E. Anderson of Dallas; and nephew, Wesley Anderson of Fort Worth. Arrangements by Corley Funeral Home.
