Martha Abigail Austin married James Henry Anderson on 12 January 1889 in Clinton, Van Buren County, Arkansas. They had at least six children:

Franklin "Frank" Johnson Anderson (1892-1962) married Irene Mae Williamson and Mary Pearl Vann
William Tillman Anderson (1893-1963) married Dora and Grace
Minnie Mae Anderson (1898-1962) married Sumner Francis Reed and Clarence Welch
Thomas Lindsey Anderson (1899-1977) married Ella Viola Darrow and Nina
Robert Jefferson "Jeff" Anderson (1902-1999) married Minnie Milner Curry
Louise Rebecca Anderson (1907-1997) married Edward Smith and Frank Carr
According to her granddaughter Betty Anderson in 2001, Martha Abigail Austin Anderson had long black hair that her son Jeff would help her braid. She loved the outdoors and was reputed to know all of the constellations in the sky. To get the news from the outside world, they would travel for a day. She also loved to sing and was very religious. She died of pellagra and anemia.
