Harold is the son of Jacob and Agnes Anthony. He lived in Fort Recovery his whole life. He spent time with his brother Zeno working as cashier and assistant cashier of the Fort Recovery Banking Company.

Harold and his wife, Frances Phillips, were the parents of eight children. On son, Tom, gave his service of his country in World War II. Luke, or J.L., remained in Fort Recovery. For many years he was owner and manager of Anthony's Service Station on South Wayne Street.
