He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Fort Recovery, to W. Harold and Frances Phillips Anthony. On Dec. 28, 1946, he married Marie Huerkamp who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Bill (Connie) of Rocky River, Philip (Betty) of Milpitas, Calif., and Bob (Mary) of Berea; three daughters, Mary Louise (Jim) Saunders, Georgetown, Mass., Helen Hancock, Crescent Springs, Ky., and Beth (Dave) Alvey, Leesburg, Va.; a brother, Vint (Betty) of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Mary Elaine Gerlach, Missoula, Mont., and Agnes Burgie, Kalamazoo, Mich.; and 15 grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, a sister and an infant daughter.
He retired as a machine service and installation technician from Stamco of New Bremen in Oct. 1985. He was instrumental in the formation of the New Bremen Emergency Squad, for which he was a paramedic and CPR instructor. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in the Aleution Islands during World War II and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the American Legion post 241, both of New Bremen. He was a 1938 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame University.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Jack Kroeger officiating. Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, Minster, following cremation of the body.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9:30-10:10 a.m. Friday at the church where the rosary will be prayed.
