Seagle Howard Spence, 81, of Route 1, Draper, died Saturday as the result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Born Dec. 10, 1909 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Joseph Madison Spence and Ida Carroll Spence. He was the husband of Ollie Rhea Turner Whitaker Spence. He was a retired employee of Coleman Furniture Company and Pulaski Furniture Corporation. He was a retired minister in the Virginia Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are two sons, Carl W. Spence of Pulaski and Douglas W. Spence of Draper; three daughters, Mary Ellen Lester of Radford, Dorothy L. Orren of Pulaski and Bonnie J, Norris of Roanoke; seven stepchildren, Frankie Whitaker, Jackie Whitaker, Donald E. Whitaker and Eugene Whitaker, all of Pulaski, Kenneth Whitaker of Poplar Camp and Betty Bowles and Leonard Whitaker, both of Dublin; four sisters, Josie Spence of Newbern, Martha Baker of Draper, Beatie Murphy of Pulaski and Ossie Spence of St. David, AZ; one brother, Millard Spence of Newbern; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 28 step grandchildren, 28 step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Virginia Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church Headquarters, Dublin, with Rev. Quinton Hughett and Rev. Richard Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Virginia Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home Pulaski. Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, is in charge of arrangements.
