Fern Marie Gray Davis, loving mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father and joined her husband on Monday, April 20, 2009 in Ogden, Utah. She died suddenly due to complications from pneumonia. She resided at 1487 North 500 West in Orem, Utah at the time of her death.


She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 11, 1934 to George Herbert Gray and LaVern Marie Goff.


She married Ned B. Davis on July 23, 1953. For most of her life she lived in Murray, Utah, where she raised her five children.


She worked for many years at First Security Bank. After serving a mission, they moved to Manti, Utah. While living in Manti, she served as a temple worker for 10 years and worked at Manti High School as a teachers' aide.


She then moved to Orem so she could be closer to her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was her favorite pastime. Some of Fern's hobbies were sewing, ceramics, collecting nativities, and baking bread. She was known for making the best German Chocolate cake ever.


Fern was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints giving compassionate service to anyone in need. She served a mission with her husband in Detroit and was a temple worker in both the Jordan River and Manti Temples.


She is survived by her children Russell Davis (Sherri), UT; Alan Davis (Virginia), WA; Sheri Lyn Christensen (Bradley), UT; Marilyn Keil (Richard), UT; April Merrill (Bruce), OR; and 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; siblings Bonnie Cambareri, RoseMary Chase, Mary Ann Hatton, Donald Pinkerton and Robert Pinkerton. She was preceded in death by her husband, and sister Dorothy Johansen.


Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the Aspen Second Ward Chapel, 828 West 1600 North, Orem. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and from 11:00-11:40 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be held at the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery, Taylorsville.
